The Rugby League season at Sunnybank SHS is reaching the 'business' end of the year for some teams, for other teams due to losses in the 'knockout' stage of the Broncos Challenge their season's have come to an end.

Last Tuesday the 20th of July saw a big afternoon of Rugby League at Langlands Park. Sunnybank took on Palm Beach Currumbin SHS in Year Eight, Nine and Ten.

The Year Eight team had a fantastic season finishing third overall at the end of the regular season. This was a great effort by this team but unfortunately the boys were defeated in their 'knockout' match against a very strong Palm Beach Currumbin team. It was a season of great achievement by this group and all members of this team should be proud of their commitment and dedication for the entire season. We wish PBC all the best for the remainder of the competition.

The Year Ten team were up against a very well drilled PBC team and for the first ten minutes of the match the home spectators had every right to feel confident of a Sunnybank upset. The boys competed well for the entire match but in the end were outclassed by a very good PBC team. We would also like to wish PBC all the best in this age group for their upcoming matches.

The Year Nine team after some indifferent form throughout the middle of the season showed what a great team they can be when all members of the team contribute effectively. Unfortunately for PBC they faced a 'hot' Sunnybank team that put together their best performance of the season. The boys had a very good win and will progress further in the competition.

It now seems that the Grand Final match up from 2009 will come one game earlier in 2010, as Sunnybank SHS and Keebra Park SHS will meet in a semi final match up next Tuesday August 3rd.
