Recently we have had some very good news about two of our students in the Rugby League Programme of Excellence. John Puna (top image on the right) has been selected in the Australian Institute of Sport squad to tour England and France at the end of November. Along with gaining an invaluable Rugby League experience John will also visit some very historical sites, some with great relevance to World War II. Good luck John, and we hope you enjoy your trip.

Recently at the Brisbane Junior Rugby League awards night Kennedy Lauti (lower image on the right) was awarded the U/17 player of the year trophy. This is a very big achievement by Kennedy considering the amount of registered junior Rugby League players in this age group and the quality of player Kennedy was playing against each weekend in the Premier Division for his age group. Well done Kennedy.

On Friday the 23rd October the inaugural Sunnybank SHS Old Boys day was held. The afternoon consisted of a triangular Oz tag competition. The teams were the current Seniors, parents/teachers team and the Old Boys (Past players team).

The afternoon was very enjoyable with plenty of laughs had by all who attended. The highlight of the day had to be the parents/teachers match against the current seniors, where the parents showed us where their sons acquired their skills from.

For the record the current Seniors held up the trophy at the end of the day. A big thank you must go out to the parents and past players in particular for attending the day and making it such a great afternoon.
